ARCHIVE HISTORY
A September 6, 2006 production notice announced the New York City shoot for that coming weekend, placing principal photography around September 9–10. Contemporary coverage identified “Muzzle Order” as Brodsky’s second video with Twelve Tribes and the first video from Midwest Pandemic.
Brodsky recalls shooting at the abandoned New York City Farm Colony on Staten Island and loosely basing the concept on the atmosphere and ideas of Gummo. The connection was especially apt because Gummo is set in Xenia, Ohio, near the Dayton-area band’s home base, though Harmony Korine actually filmed Gummo in Nashville.
The earliest currently located online notice says the “Muzzle Order” video was available through YouTube on October 21, 2006.
Blabbermouth followed with an October 23, 2006 item linking the video on YouTube and noting that it had been shot the previous month in New York City.
PRODUCTION NOTE
A September 6, 2006 production notice announced that Twelve Tribes would shoot “Muzzle Order” with David Brodsky and the MyGoodEye crew in New York City that coming weekend, placing the shoot around September 9–10, 2006. It was Brodsky’s second video with the band and the first from the Midwest Pandemic cycle.
Brodsky recalls the primary location as the abandoned New York City Farm Colony on Staten Island. The concept was loosely inspired by the atmosphere and ideas of Harmony Korine’s Gummo. Gummo is set in Xenia, Ohio, relatively near Twelve Tribes’ Dayton home base, although the film itself was actually photographed in Nashville, Tennessee.
FROM DAVID
“The concept was loosely based on Gummo. Twelve Tribes were from the Dayton area and Gummo is set in Xenia, Ohio, so it felt like an appropriate reference even though we shot ours on Staten Island at the Farm Colony. These days I probably would have pushed the narrative much further, but I still think the song is fantastic and the location was outstanding.”
VIEWER REACTION
“man most underated band ever”
FROM THE YEARS
“16 years... absolutely bananas. This has been on my playlist since the MySpace days. You guys are legends in my book.”
