ARCHIVE HISTORY
Will Ramos has described “Prison of Flesh” as a deeply personal song about his family’s history with dementia and the fear of losing touch with reality. Adam De Micco later explained that the video’s horror-film language and sustained tension were intentionally built around that loss of reality rather than gore for its own sake.
PRODUCTION NOTE
The band approached the video as a horror piece built around tension, disorientation and the erosion of reality. Adam De Micco said the gore was intended to serve the song’s dementia theme rather than exist as disconnected spectacle.
Metal Hammer's on-set report describes an overhead showerhead rig that rained artificial blood onto the band. Makeup involved an alcohol-containing first layer and a thicker, glossy mixture reapplied after each take.
