DIRECTOR'S NOTES

One of the most satisfying things about Wasted Lands was seeing the sets translate almost exactly from pre-visualization to the finished film. The small projection room was a particularly happy discovery; it has an energy that I love.

David Brodsky

The laboratory landed exactly where I had it in my head during pre-vis. Adam Hutter and Adam Pernick staged and lit it perfectly. The overhead and profile compositions were part of my original plan. I shot the overheads; Allison shot the profiles and then created the three-quarter angle on the day. I hadn’t planned that angle at all, and I think those shots are amazing.

PRODUCTION NOTE

Prop Master Adam Hutter and his team at The End Times Boutique in Philadelphia supplied and built out much of the set dressing, working with Lighting Director Adam Pernick to turn Lynnewood Hall into the environments used throughout the video.

FROM THE BAND

“The inspiration for “Wasted Lands” came about when it was brought to my attention that someone had been dragging my name on Facebook (weird, right?). Apparently, I had reneged on a free t-shirt and dinner. I think it was a prize in a pay to play contest. Not to overstate the obvious, but it was a load of horse hockey. Many people tried to explain to this person that it was not me and that they had been hustled. But they simply would not believe it. So I thought, screw it, no half-measures. You want a monster? Let’s give you one.”
